Pair of Antique French Spelter Ewers with Cherub Motif
France, circa 1890–1910
A striking pair of late 19th-century spelter ewers cast in the richly detailed Renaissance Revival style. Each vessel features high-relief decoration with classical cherubs (putti), scrolling foliage, and ornate handles, all raised on a pedestal base.
Originally produced as functional vessels, both retain their copper interior linings—an authentic feature used to hold water or floral arrangements while protecting the outer metal bodies.
The sculptural quality and architectural presence make these ideal as statement décor on a mantel, console, or bookshelf. Their aged, silvered finish adds depth and character, highlighting the intricate casting throughout.
