“GLOIRE” (Glory)
Signed Bruchon
France, circa 1890–1910

A striking late 19th-century French allegorical sculpture titled Gloire (Glory), signed Bruchon and finely cast in spelter (zinc alloy).

The figure is depicted in flowing classical drapery, raising one arm in triumph while holding a laurel wreath — enduring symbols of victory, honour, and achievement. The composition reflects the academic sculptural traditions popular in France at the turn of the century.

Executed in spelter with a light patinated finish, a material widely used in French decorative arts of the period as an accessible alternative to bronze, allowing for detailed and expressive forms.

The sculpture is mounted on its original turned wooden base and features a brass title plaque reading:
“GLORIE– Par Bruchon”

A refined and decorative example of Belle Époque taste — ideal for a traditional interior, library, or curated antique collection.
