Victorian Figural Porcelain Candlesticks (Pair)
Late 19th Century | circa 1870–1890
This charming, matched pair of Victorian porcelain candlesticks depicts a young boy
dressed in a sailor’s uniform, delicately modelled as he raises the candle above.
The figures feature hand-painted facial details, expressive poses, and rich cobalt
blue accents against a soft white ground, all characteristic of late 19th-century decorative porcelain.
Figural candlesticks of this type were popular in Victorian homes, where they
were displayed on mantels and sideboards to create symmetry and visual storytelling.
Nautical themes and child figures were especially fashionable during this period,
reflecting Britain’s strong maritime identity and the Victorian fascination
with innocence and domestic ornament.
Each candlestick stands approximately 7 inches tall and remains in
excellent antique condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs noted.
The pair retains its original form and finish, making it both a decorative and
collectible example of authentic Victorian-era porcelain.
Approximately 150 years old.
Offered and sold as a matching pair.
