Royal Doulton – The Old Balloon Seller
This Royal Doulton bone china figurine, measuring approximately
8 × 6 inches, depicts The Old Balloon Seller, one of the company’s most
enduring and recognizable character studies. The design was first introduced
in the mid-1930s, reflecting Royal Doulton’s tradition of finely modelled
character figures. This example represents a later 20th-century production,
most likely dating to the 1970s–1980s, and retains strong colour, crisp detailing,
and excellent overall condition.
The figurine is accompanied by its original limited-edition dealer
display sign, specially commissioned in 1994 for Royal Doulton retailer
The Site of the Green. The sign was produced in a strictly limited edition
edition of 500, making it a desirable piece of Royal Doulton retail
and collector history.
Both pieces are offered together as a set, enhancing provenance,
display appeal, and collectability. An attractive and well-documented
acquisition for the Royal Doulton collector.
